Call for Papers:

Now closed

We invite submissions for NASSR 2018 at Brown University. Our theme, “Open,” is also a
non-theme, and we thus welcome a wide range of scholarship that bears upon romanticism.
At the same time, due to logistical constraints, we can only accommodate so many presenters in
formats that are workable within the time slot for a single session. In addition, participants may
only deliver one paper/presentation. (Please note that this restriction does not apply to special
seminar leaders or special seminar participants, who may also appear on regular panels; this
restriction does apply, however, to roundtables and respondents.) We would like to allow as many
presenters as possible to give talks at the conference.

We welcome the following:

1. Traditional 20-minute paper proposals submitted individually: maximum 350-word abstracts.

2.
Complete panels/special sessions/caucus sessions of either three 20-minute or four 15-minute papers. 300-word abstracts for each paper (along with list of panelists and their affiliations)  should be accompanied by a cover letter of a maximum of 1000 words describing the aims of the panel. If you wish to propose a panel but are looking for participants, please send the complete call – with the title and a brief description of the panel topic, plus your name, affiliation, and email address – to the conference email address: nassr2018@brown.edu. We will advertise it for you on our CFP page under the "Call For Panelists" tab. NASSR members interested in participating will contact you directly.

3. Proposals for roundtables: provide a description of the topic, a title, and a list of committed panelists with their affiliations. We would like to have a maximum of 6 panelists for roundtables, but we remain open to considering other proposals.

If you have in mind another kind of format for a session, please email us a description to consider. All papers are subject to vetting by the organizing committee. Please submit all proposals (complete panels/special sessions/caucus sessions, and roundtables) to the conference email: nassr2018@brown.edu. All proposals must include your name, academic affiliation, and preferred email address. The deadline is January 10, 2018.

One does not need to be a member of NASSR to submit a proposal, but all 2018 conference participants must be paid members of NASSR before the time of the conference in order to participate. To join NASSR or to renew your membership, please click here.
