NASSR 2018: Open

June 22 - 25, 2018 / Brown University
Annual Meeting of the North American Society for the Study of Romanticism
NASSR 2018 will meet on the Brown University campus in Providence, Rhode Island, June 22-25.
The conference organizers have decided to not have a topic for 2018, thus keeping NASSR decisively "Open." This
indicates our receptivity to a broad range of proposals for papers and sessions, but also our more specific
interest to not prescribe any theme or concept in advance, thus extending the question of romanticism’s
“open-ness." We welcome interdisciplinary and comparatist approaches, as well as scholarship in
non-English literatures and cultures. This might include work on: circulation, translation,
and reception across boundaries; forms of cultural exchange and their policing;
challenges to aesthetic, political, historical, discursive borders; critical
engagements with race, gender, sexuality, and class; reopened
questions of bodies and technics, reproducibility and
iterability; various figurations of infinite,
open-ended potentiality...
For deadlines and details for proposing papers and panels, please see the CFP page of this site.
